We have built 5 new homes in our lifetime. Our new Fort Lauderdale waterfront home was the first of the five designed completely from scratch and the first built in the city of Fort Lauderdale. When we initially engaged an architect we pursued several builders and selected Barron Development to execute on our project. Barron had the experience in building the type of modern home we desired and the local expertise in navigating thru the many requirements the City of Fort Lauderdale as well as Broward County mandated. As the project started with the design phase, Barron was involved in the key aspects of planning, budgeting, financing, value engineering, elevations, “what if” scenarios, and close interaction with the architect and us. When we received permits to begin demolition of the existing home on the property and then construction, Hurricane Irma blew thru Florida. That caused a scramble with some subs that now were pulled into Irma related work. Barron was quick to respond and our project started on time despite the “Irma effect” on overall construction in South Florida. Typical with a de novo project, there were twists and turns as well as unforeseen surprises along the way. Barron Developments team was great in working with us to address each as they arose and prevented several that were brewing from occurring. In fact, one item that was related to an architectural miss was quickly resolved due to Barron’s personal expertise saving us considerable time and money. We are now moved in and enjoying our new home. The Barron Development team was a pleasure to work with throughout all aspects of the project. We are Extremely pleased with our home that Jim and his team built for our family. From soup to nuts, Jim is very knowledgable and quite creative with dealing with challenges that invariably come up in the field. Jim and his team worked closely with our architect, the city and all the trades to build us a beautiful property of which we continously receive compliments on. Being away from our home during the process of renovating our ocean front residence proposed several challenges for us. These challenges were eliminated when my wife and I decided to hire Barron Development Corporation to handle the renovation. In late February 2009 We Take The Cake purchased a warehouse facility in Fort Lauderdale to convert into baking facility. Because the facility would be for food preparation the state and local building code requirements were very stringent. In addition, we were under considerable time constraints as the lease on our existing baking facility was scheduled to expire on May 31, 2009. Barron Development came highly recommended from a friend who had used them to build a very high end home along a canal in Fort Lauderdale.
Jim Barron and his team were superb. Jim immediately took control of the process including permitting, sub-contractor pre-qualification, bidding, contracts, scheduling and site and contractor supervision. He kept us updated at each step of the project and ensured that we were made aware of any issues as they arose. Despite several delays by the city the project was completed before the May 31st deadline and well within the budget that Jim had developed with us.
We found Jim and his team to be very professional and always prompt at returning calls and addressing issues. From permitting , architectural drawing and through insurance Jim was very sensitive about ensuring that our needs were met, that our interests were protected and that the sub-contractors provided quality workmanship. If we undertook another building or renovation project we would not hesitate to use Barron Development again.
In 2009 my partner and I purchased a 1950’s mid-century modern waterfront home in Hollywood, FL that was in need of major renovations and ultimately required near complete demolition. We were new to this type of project and never imagined the obstacles and difficulties we would encounter. The project got off to a slow start and almost did not get finished. After almost two years with little progress, we had architectural plans, a demolished house, markedly increasing costs and a dream that seemed like it would never be realized.
All of that changed when our architect recommended Barron Development Corporation as a premier builder of custom luxury properties in south Florida. Once we hired Barron, there was no looking back. Jim and his team took care of permitting, city inspections, hiring subcontractors, making sure subcontractors were properly insured, making sure everyone was performing up to the highest standards and keeping everyone on budget. Construction was managed in a highly efficient and professional manner. The owner, Jim Barron, was always available to answer questions or solve any problems that arose. He and his team were a pleasure to work with. Barron Development Corporation was able see our dream fulfilled, and we are now able to enjoy our new home.
